A few good questions
Clear from the start.
What does “own your version” mean?
A one-time purchase gives you permanent local use of the purchased major version on compatible hardware. A major version is a release family, such as Sunstead OS 1. Newer major versions are optional purchases; your existing version does not expire.
How do updates and upgrades work?
Bug and security fixes for your major version are included during its support period, which continues for 24 months after its successor launches. When a newer major version is available, owners can upgrade directly to it for $19.99, even if they skipped versions. Subscriptions include upgrades while active.
Buy an owned license within 90 days before a new major release and that major upgrade is included. Release notes will identify major releases and their support dates; an upgrade is offered when the new version is available.
What happens after the trial or a cancellation?
The trial ends after seven days without automatically charging you. A canceled subscription remains active through its paid period. After access ends, the activation screen replaces the live dashboard; retained history, settings and export remain available. Subscribe or buy an owned license to continue. Trial expiration and billing never change connected equipment settings.
Can I use Sunstead without managed remote access?
Yes. The owned version includes local use and viewing on your home network. Managed access from away is included during the trial and with an active subscription; it requires an internet connection and device pairing.
Do extra screens need another license?
No. One license covers one primary Sunstead controller at one property. Household viewers and display devices are unlimited. A replacement controller can receive a license transfer; running a second primary controller requires its own license.
Does buying prebuilt hardware include the software?
Yes. A branded, preassembled retail Sunstead includes the selected equipment, enclosure, assembly and lifetime full OS access, all future updates and managed remote access for life. There is no recurring software charge or paid major upgrade. We activate the unit before shipment; there is no redemption code to enter. The trial and software plans above apply to DIY installations.
