This download is built for Raspberry Pi 5. A Pi 4 image is not available yet.
- Raspberry Pi 5With a suitable power supply and cooling.
- A microSD card and readerUse a 16 GB or larger card for room beyond the 4.69 GB image.
- A display and inputAn HDMI display with a keyboard/mouse, or a compatible touchscreen for local setup.
- A network connectionEthernet, or Wi-Fi configured from the Sunstead screen.
- Your equipment connectionChoose the cable or adapter your inverter or monitor requires. Check supported devices and protocols.
From download to dashboard
Make it yours.
Download the image and Imager.
Save the Sunstead .img.xz file above. Then install Raspberry Pi Imager on your computer. The separate application ZIP in the release is not a card image.
Write your microSD card.
In Imager, select Raspberry Pi 5, choose the custom-image option, and select the downloaded .img.xz. Select your microSD card and write it. Writing erases the selected card. Leave Imager OS customization off; Sunstead has its own setup.
Power up and settle in.
Insert the card, connect your display and input, and power on. Use Ethernet or select Wi-Fi on the Sunstead screen, then set up your property and compatible equipment. The dashboard runs locally; a website account is optional for remote viewing.
This image defaults to the US Wi-Fi regulatory region. For another country, configure /etc/default/sunstead-radio before using Wi-Fi; Ethernet can be used for initial access. Read the setup notes and optional SSH instructions.
